What is your physical experience of being a mother?
This project EveryBODY offers you a chance to explore this theme through movement practices, reflection and conversation, and finding different creative ways of exploring your own story. As a group we will look at the perinatal body experience - before, during and after childbirth, and the early months and years of motherhood - the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful.
A lively and dynamic research process, these sessions are designed to offer a safe space where everyone feels comfortable to express and explore as they wish.
Supported by an Arts Council Agility Award 2022, it is intended this research will inform future development of a public artwork – such as a written publication, audio podcast, live presentation or other artwork to be determined.
EveryBODY is an ongoing creative project which began in 2021, exploring the lived bodily experience by reflecting on our own physical narratives, our ‘Body Stories’ through an embodied process of movement and meditation, writing, storytelling, drawing and hands-on creative making. It is process-led exploration of personal experience and narrative.
This will be a collective creative exploration of our own perinatal body experiences, but I hope through it, giving a voice to women everywhere about what is probably the most intense physical experience possible (short of being born or dying), but that is often dismissed or left unexplored due to the demands of new parenthood. Please note: there are a limited amount of spaces available to take part in this project. - Aoife Concannon
